BYRD, Richard Evelyn (1888–1957). Little America: Aerial Exploration in the Antarctic… New York: G. P. Putnam’s Sons, 1930. Portrait gravure frontispiece, numerous illustrations from photographs and maps, 2 folding maps at rear. Publisher’s blue cloth gilt; original unclipped dust jacket (minor chipping or rubbing to edges, some staining to spine panel). Laid in with a scarce prospectus postcard for this title (corners worn) and a handbill for an “illustrated lecture” by Byrd at Sandusky High School. FIRST EDITION, INSCRIBED BY BYRD and two others including Alton N. Parker who accompanied Byrd on expeditions to the North and South Poles and was the first American to set foot in Antarctica.
