BYRD, Richard Evelyn (1888–1957). Skyward. New York and London: G. P. Putnam’s Sons, 1928. 8vo. Photogravure portrait frontispiece, illustrations from photographs. Publisher’s blue cloth lettered in gilt; original dust jacket (minor edge creases). FIRST EDITION of the author’s autobiography. Provenance: Otto Orren Fisher (bookplate). PRESENTATION COPY inscribed by Byrd to Edward H. Rithedge(?) on frontispiece. With addition presentation inscription by Richard W. Saunders to Rithedge(?): “As I write these lines in the book Commander Byrd has autographed for you, he is now plowing through the ice on his way to the south pole…”.
