Description
J. Edgar Hoover TLS Sending An Issue of "The Investigator" to a Soldier
1p, measuring 8" x 10.5", Washington, D.C., dated February 4, 1955. Boldly signed "J. Edgar Hoover" in blue ink on United States Department of Justice letterhead. Addressed to Private Edward J. Krupinsky of Company C, Platoon 3, 893rd Tank Battalion. The letter reads in full:
"Thank you for your letter of January 26, 1955, advising that you are undergoing basic training at Fort Dix, New Jersey. I do appreciate your informing us of your military address so 'The Investigator' can be mailed directly to you. It is hoped you will enjoy your tour of military duty and we shall look forward to hearing from you often." With flattened mail folds and a small spot of soiling. Two small holes at the top margin from tab fasteners. Accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity from PSA/DNA.
"The Investigator" was the FBI’s Employees-Only magazine, first published in 1932. It was initially started as a newsletter but grew into a full magazine. It was only circulated within the Bureau, so copies can be quite difficult to come by.
This item comes with a Certificate from John Reznikoff, a premier authenticator for both major 3rd party authentication services, PSA and JSA (James Spence Authentications), as well as numerous auction houses.
