Typed Letter Signed in Hebrew ,"M. Begin," as Prime Minister of Israel, 1 page, 6.5" x 8.25". Fine condition.

The Prime Minister, Jerusalem, Israel, June 9, 1980. To Knesset Member Zerach Warhaftig, The Knesset, Jerusalem. In Hebrew with full English translation.

In full: "Herewith I thank you for being so kind as to send me, by means of our good friend Aryeh Han, the text of your speech in the Knesset. The speech has wonderful passages, both in content and in wording, and it has provided me with true contentment. As you can see, my dear friend, we are not being lax, and I can assure you that our political situation is not among the worst of the last thirty years. I will provide details in the Committee on Foreign Affairs and Security. I will also gladly discuss matters with you in person."

Zerach Warhaftig (1906-2002) was a Signer of the Israeli Declaration of Independence. A member of the National Religious Party, he served in the first nine Knessets (1949-1981). Aryeh Han was Secretary of the Knesset.
