Description

Rare Andrew Jackson Uncirculated $5 Note

A small lot of pieces relating to 7th U.S. President Andrew Jackson (1767-1845), the highlight being a rare uncirculated $5 U.S. treasury note from the 1869 series. Six pieces total.

The lot is comprised of:

1. An uncirculated $5 U.S. treasury note, serial number K2586041, printed in color on rag paper by the Bureau of Engraving and Printing in 1869. Jackson's portrait after Thomas Sully appears in the lower left corner recto, and the central vignette shows a family of intrepid American pioneers. Advisements about legal tender status and counterfeiting appear in medallions verso. A few isolated stains found along the bottom and left edge, else near fine. 7.25" x 3.125."

2. Three prints of Jackson excised from magazines or books.

3. A Bureau of Engraving and Printing print entitled "The White House" showing a view of the driveway leading up to the North Portico. Scattered foxing. 4.75" x 3.75."

4. A comical souvenir $3 bill from the "Untied States of Anemia" in the amount of "twe dollars" bearing Jackson's image and Jefferson's name at center recto.

This item comes with a Certificate from John Reznikoff, a premier authenticator for both major 3rd party authentication services, PSA and JSA (James Spence Authentications), as well as numerous auction houses.
