Hanging Scroll Ancestral Portrait, China, early 20th century, of an official seated in a chair looking straight, dressed in an official winter robe with the 5th civil rank badge with silver pheasant, ink and color on paper, 37 7/8 x 20 5/8 in.
Provenance: Descended in the family of Dr. Marshall Hertig, an internationally noted medical entomologist who conducted research on disease bearing insects at the Peking Union Medical College, from 1923-1928, his wife Edwina Smiley Hertig, and their son Bruce Allerton Hertig, to the present owner.
