Hirokage Woodblock Mitsumata at Shin-Ohashi Bridge This 1859 woodblock by Utagawa Hirokage is from his 1859 woodblock series "Comical Views of Famous Places in Edo". This is number 19, "Mitsumata at Shin-Ohashi Bridge" and features a man jumping off of a bridge and into the famous Sumida river to the horror of a passing boat. Mt. Fuji is in the background, as well as some fishing boats and the city of Edo (modern-day Tokyo). Hirokage was a student of the famous printmaker Hiroshige, and this series is a parody of Hiroshige's 100 Famous Views of Edo as well as some of Hokusai's works.
