Tangier.- Berkeley (John, first Baron Berkeley of Stratton, English royalist soldier, politician & diplomat, 1602-1678) Autograph Letter signed relating to supplies for the garrison at Tangier, 2pp., water-stained at head, lightly browned, folio, Oxford, [c.1665].

⁂ Berkeley and Sir George Carteret were the founders of the Province of New Jersey, a British colony in North America. In 1665 Berkeley was appointed to the Committee of Tangier.
