Description
Antique Chinese Landscape Hand Scroll with inscribed strip with red seal to brown silk brocade cover, inside with Title calligraphy and inscription on old paper both with 1 red seal, the detailed landscape of an aged Pine forest and pavilion in the mountains visited by several Scholars and ending in a long desolate marsh with signature and 4 red seals and followed by a length of clean paper with 2 short ink inscriptions and 5 red seals at the beginning of the clean paper. Total length from beginning of title to end of blank paper 114 inches (289.5 cm.) X height 8 inches (20.3 cm.). PROVENANCE: Purchased at Sotheby Parke Bernet, New York in the late 1970's and shown to C. C. Wang (Wang Jiqian, 1907-2003) who thought the landscape might be Yuan/early Ming Dynasty.
Condition
Numerous damages and repairs to Landscape section, slight discoloration to silk front section; minor folds and small stains.
