Title: The UNSEEN No. 14
Place Published:
Publisher:Standard [Indicia: Visual Editions, Inc.]
Date Published: April, 1954
Description:
VG/Fine (5.0). Light wear to spine, edges and corners, mild warping to open edge of covers and pages. Cream to off-white pages, scattered fox marks. A handsome copy. Cover: No credits in Grand Comics Database, but it sure looks like Mike Sekowsky (although the man's eyes suggest Rocco Mastroserio). If you can make a positive ID, please contact PBA's Director of Comics. GCD says the cover's inks are by Mike Peppe, who often inked Sekowsky's pencils. Art: Ralph Mayo, Gene Fawcette, Rocco Mastroserio, Mike Sekowsky (Mike Peppe inks). GPAnalysis: A 5.0 sold for $539 in April 2021.
A horny, sentient octopus girl abducts a sailor for use in her bizarre mating rites; a demented undertaker substitutes wax dummies for burial and keeps the corpses to amuse himself with; a horror-themed crossword puzzle gives kids the scoop on Satan; a senile corpse can't remember he's dead; a single-panel true crime vignette gives kids a recipe for building a lethal bomb; a servant "wench" is flogged a by hooded dungeon-keeper for refusing "the advances of her master" in a pervy panel geared towards budding B&D fans.
Consignments welcome for PBA's Fall 2022 Comic Book sale. Pre-Code Horror, Golden Age and Silver Age comics, original art, vintage comic-related photos and ephemera sought. Send inquiries to ivan@pbagalleries.com.Buyer's Premium
