A PAIR OF BLUE AND WHITE CHARACTERS "XI" VASES AS LAMP China, 19th/20th century Porcelain. H. 60 cm. The vase has a galleried rim and is decorated with interlocking branches and a total of eight Chinese characters "Xi" (Happy), supplemented by bat and geometric patterns. There are two animal-shaped handles on both sides of the neck. The vases were mounted as lamp, each with hardwood base. With traces of use. Gebrauchsspuren. Die Vasen haben eine Plattenfoermige Muendung und sind mit Lotuszweigen und insgesamt acht chinesischen Schriftzeichen ''Xi'' (Gluecklich) dekoriert, ergaenzt durch Fledermaus- und geometrische Muster. Auf beiden Seiten des Halses befinden sich Henkel in Tierform. Die Vasen wurden als Lampe montiert, jeweils mit Hartholzsockel. Mit Gebrauchsspuren. Provenienz: Aus einer Privatsammlung im Ruhrgebiet, erworben vom Sammler in Frankfurt im Jahr 1984.
