Description

James Nares (British, 1953-). A large-format metallic pigment and enamel on canvas abstract titled "Ismbard Kingdom". 84-1/4in x 120in. Provenance: Tony Shafrazi Gallery, New York, New York. Michael Klein, Inc., New York, New York. Private Collection, Bethesda, Maryland.

Condition

Top edge of canvas is very slightly concave along stretcher bar, especially at the corners. There is a slight rub mark at top left, approx. 4in. long in an arc shape and four or five very light diagonal rub marks at bottom right corner, approx. 4in. long. The bare canvas on either side of the painting, stretched around the sides, shows light soiling and one stain at left edge approx. 10in from top, and a few small scuff marks and stains near top right corner. Top and bottom edges were not able to be examined.
