Rodney Demps (American, 1953-2020). An original sofa sized Florida Highwayman oil painting on masonite board. A Florida wetlands landscape with trees, birds in flight, a house, and hanging laundry, under a morning sky. Artist signature to lower right R. DEMPS. Demps was an original founding member of The Florida Highwaymen, young 1950s and 1960s era African American landscape artists mentored by Albert Ernest (Beanie) Backus (American, 1906-1990), who was regarded as the Dean of Florida Painters. From a private Palm Beach Collection. Presented in a rustic wood frame.
Work Size: 24 x 48 in.
Dimensions: 28.75 X 52.5 X 2 in.
Condition: Good overall condition having normal surface wear. Frame having storage surface wear to edges and corners. Estate fresh to the market.
