A Byzantine bronze polycandelon and six early Byzantine glass lamp beakers
Circa 5th-7th Century A.D.
The broad bronze ring base overlapping at the terminals and secured by two rivets, with three suspension chains attached at the rim and centrally joined by a single loop from which a long hook is attached, six 'swan-head' arms secured by rivets to the ring base, then terminating in smaller loops into which the glass lamp beakers are placed; and six early Byzantine blue-green glass lamp beakers of blub form, three of plain glass, three moulded with twisted striations, 15cm diam of ring base; 39cm height including chain, 9.8cm max height of glass

For the glass vessels, see Dal Mille Al Mille; Tesori e Popoli Dal Mar Nero Milan, 1995, p.188, no.56-57, which are of very similar form to a pottery beaker, on p.189, no.62.
