A Luristan Bronze Pick-axe Head, Late Bronze Age, ca. 2nd millennium BCE, ca. 1st millennium BCE:
Medium: Bronze
The head of a pick-axe with a shirt shaft tube edged with two ridges, while the curving butt plate is strengthened by a horizontal horizontal ridge running across it, the thin blade tapering to a flat edge.Cf: P.R.S. Moorey, Catalogue of the Ancient Persian Bronzes in the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford: The Clarendon Press (1971).For a similar example in copper, see: Mahboubian, Houshang, Art of Ancient Iran: Copper and Bronze, London: Phillip Wilson (1997), p. 172, cat. no. 183.
