Delicate Roman Glass Cup Etched Decorations
Item Details
Description
Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 3rd to 4th century CE. A free-blown glass cup bearing several intricately etched linear and circular decorations around the exterior walls. The vessel bears a slightly concave base, tall walls, and a flared rim with a fire-polished lip. Six bullseye-form circles etched around the upper half of the walls imbue the cup with an ocular presentation, and beneath are dozens of diagonal striations that create a sense of movement across the lower body. Provenance: East Coast collection, New York Gallery, New York City, New York, USA, acquired before 2010

A Certificate of Authenticity will accompany all winning bids.
