Description

Maurice Sendak autographed "National Reading Is Fun Day" greeting card. Sendak has hand-signed and inscribed "For Elizabeth - from Maurice Sendak, at The White House! Jan. '80." The card is from the personal collection of Elizabeth Graham of Ridgefield, Connecticut, a long-time neighbor and significant collector of Sendak's work.

The card measures 5.25 x 7.75". Accompanied by original mailing envelope. 

In fine condition.

Maurice Bernard Sendak (June 10, 1928 – May 8, 2012) was an American illustrator and writer of children's books. He became most widely known for his book Where the Wild Things Are, first published in 1963.[2] Born to Polish-Jewish parents, his childhood was affected by the death of many of his family members during the Holocaust. Sendak also wrote works such as In the Night Kitchen, Outside Over There, and illustrated many works by other authors including the Little Bear books by Else Holmelund Minarik.
