Ansel Adams Signed "Taos Pueblo" 1977 Edition, 640 of 950

Signed Facsimile Edition of "Taos Pueblo" by Ansel Adams and Mary Austin. Boston: New York Graphic Society (published by Little, Brown, and Co.), 1977. Special facsimile. Folio, unpaginated. No. 640 of 950 copies signed by Adams, "Ansel Adams." With 12 black and white photographic reproductions by Adams. Original brick cloth with brown leather spine bound by Vincent Mullins. Housed in a brick cloth slipcase. This is a facsimile edition of Adams's book first published in 1930, which was limited to only 108 copies. Near fine, with minor wear to the slipcase.

Ansel Adams (1902-1984) was an American photographer and environmentalist celebrated for his striking and stark landscape photographs. His interest in photographing natural scenery coincided with his joining the environmentalist Sierra Club in the 1920s. Adams had become a well-established and nationally recognized photographer by the early 1960s. Although Adams did commercial photography to pay the bills, it was always transcendent views of the natural landscape that captured his imagination and inspired his technical photographic innovations.
