EISENHOWER Unveiling Abraham Lincoln Proclamation

Lot 0045 Details

Description
AutographsExtremely Rare Signed Photograph of Dwight D. Eisenhower Unveiling the Emancipation Proclamation

DWIGHT D. EISENHOWER.
Black and white Photograph Signed and Inscribed by Dwight and Mamie Eisenhower unveiling Abraham Lincoln's original manuscript draft of the Emancipation Proclamation which forever freed the slaves from bondage, measuring 11” x 14", Choice Extremely Fine. The inscription and signature reads, "For Barry Balaban, With best wishes and personal regard. Dwight D. Eisenhower." This signed photograph is especially interesting considering the Civil Rights movement began during Eisenhower's presidency in the 1950's, when he ordered the National Guard to enforce desegregation of America's school systems. There is a slight crease that runs vertically through the center of the document, but this hardly takes away from the impressive image. The size and rarity of this image make this photograph especially valuable.
