Extensive collection with seven early prints and a manuscript
I: Erasmus von Rotterdam (1466-1536) - 'Avctarivm selectarvm aliquot Epistolarvm Erasmi Roterodami ad ervditos, et Horvm as illvm.'; printed by Johann Froben in Basel, 1518
II: 18th century manuscript, presumably a transcription: 'Supplication per Oratorem epi Leodien in conventu principu Auguste pntate'
III: Ulrich von Hutten (1488-1523) - 'Hoc in volumine haec continentur'; printed by Johannes Miller, Augsburg, 1519
IV: Jakob Mennel (1460-1525) - 'De inclito atque apud Germanos rarissimo accu ecclesiastico Kalen'; printed by Sigmund Grimm & Marx Wirsung, Augsburg, 1518
V: Luca Gaurico (1475-1558) - 'Luce Gaurici Neapolitani Prognosticon: ab incarnationis Christi anno Millesimo quingentesimotertio'; printed by Silvan Otmar in Augsburg, 1522

Dimensions of volume: 20.5 x 15.5 x 6.5 cm
Binding and all writings are in very good condition, no defective spots or splits
This collective volume with works by seven remarkable early Renaissance printers was compiled in the 18th century

Collation:

20 blank leaves from 18th century

I: 223 numbered pages. Verso of last leaf with printer's device of von Froben. Woodcut title border and woodcut initials.

II: 25 leaves, of which 23 leaves with letters.

III: 76 leaves. Fine woodcut border and 12 woodcuts in the text

IV: 8 leaves. One title woodcut by the Petrarca master

V: 6 leaves (the last blank). Extremely rare, proof in just 3 libraries

VI: 4 leaves. 16 18th century blank leaves

VII: 101 (of 102) leaves. Lacking title leaf a1. Various contemporary marginalia.

VIII: 38 leaves.


Condition:

Prints on different types of paper. Somewhat browned, however, largely very clean and with broad margins. No splits or defective spots.



Binding:

Flexible vellum bindings merely served as protective wrapper. Joints somewhat blemished. First leaves somewhat shopworn.


Provenance:

Stamp of Baron Ankershofen in first work.

17th century ownership entry of Leonardo in work VI.
