Description
MT. CRAWFORD, SHENANDOAH VALLEY OF VIRGINIA ATTRIBUTED DECORATED STONEWARE JAR, salt-glazed, approximately one-gallon capacity, ovoid form with two tab-like handles, heavy collar, and rounded rim. Brushed cobalt dropped flower and leaf decoration surrounding shoulder, additional cobalt feather below each handle and at terminals. Probably the pottery of Mathias Ireland, George Duey, and James Shinnick. Circa 1868-1875. 10" H, 5 3/4" D rim.
