Hand Painted Gourd by Robert Rivera, Espanola NM
Item Details
Description
Native American Apache Hand Painted Gourd by Robert Rivera, Espanola NM, measures 3.5''H x 6.5''D and is signed by artist, 2'' pressure crack from rim downward, FYI: Robert Rivera, whose heritage is a mix of Apache, Spanish and French, is a world-renowned gourd artist. His inspiration comes largely from the arts of the Puebloan people whose designs he interprets and expresses in his own work. In the late 1970s while on a road trip from New Mexico to California, Rivera saw a pile of gourds by the road. At that point these future art pieces were foreign to him. He purchased and painted a few, found an immediate audience, and has been creating fantastic Pueblo gourd art ever since.
