Lot 43053 Details

Description
Abraham Lincoln: 1864 Campaign Cartoon.  Currier & Ives published this pro-Lincoln cartoon in 1864. It is titled "Your Plan and Mine" and contrasts the Democratic and Republican plans for the prosecution of the war. McClellan offers an olive branch to Jeff Davis, gives him permission to return the black Union soldier into slavery and requests the South's return to the Union. Lincoln demands unconditional surrender from Davis at the point of the bayonet and demands that those freed by the Emancipation Proclamation are not returned to slavery. It has been matted and framed to an overall size of 21.5" x 18.5". The print itself is 16.5" x 12.5" [sight] and has not been examined out of the frame. Excellent condition.
