Description
Circa 1909 Historic Antique Printed Textile Fabric; Commemorates Robert Peary's arctic exploration. Peary was credited to have reached the North Pole in April of 1909. Depiction includes Richard Peary planting the US Flag on the North Pole. He is surrounded by three Eskimo workers, sleds and dogs. The sun is rising behind an icy mountain with polar bears, ships, and igloo huts appearing in the background. Approximate size is 29" x 17-1/2" (a easily framable size). Condition: left and right edges are machine selvaged. top and bottom edges are raw cut. overall light soiling and toning.
