Description
Watts (George Frederic, painter and sculptor, 1817-1904) 2 Autograph Letters signed (1 to William Agnew & 1 to Horace Davey, later Baron Davey), together 3½pp., 8vo, [c. 1868] & 6th May 1884, the first replying to Agnew that his picture, The Wife of Pygmalion [now in Buscot Park, Oxfordshire], is sold "over and over", the second including a signed receipt for his painting, The Island of Cos, "painted by me", folds, slightly browned; and 9 other pieces, including: an Autograph Letter signed from Charles Lutwidge (Lewis Carroll's grandfather), to Sir Robert Bateson-Harvey, Langley Park, Buckinghamshire, 1801, telling him he had bought a Guido, and 2 sheets of drawings and an ALs from Henry Stacy Marks to J.E. Millais, folds, browned, v.s., v.d. (10 pieces). This lot is subject to VAT at 20% payable on the hammer price, which may be reclaimable as input VAT.
