3" x 1 ½" calling card. The card reads: "Lord Ashburton." This card most likely belonged to ALEXANDER BARING, 1st BARON ASHBURTON (1774-1848). English politician and financier. The possibility exists that it is the calling card of his son, WILLIAM BINGHAM BARING, 2nd BARON ASHBURTON. 1799-1864). This calling card comes from the collection of BENJAMIN OGLE TAYLOR (1796-1868). Taylor was involved in real estate in the Washington D.C. area and was also the owner of the Willard Hotel. Mounting trace on verso. Else Very Fine.
