Description
EXTRAORDINARY, RARE, Chinese Song Dynasty Hutian kiln Bodhisattva Buddha figure of Simhanada Avalokiteshvara, Guanyin porcelain statue. With a slim body, cold gilding face, two hands, three peaceful eyes, the face slightly smiling. The right hand is extended above the knee in the mudra of giving refuge. The palm of the left hand is supported on the moon seat, pressed down on the seat behind the left thigh. The breast encircled with a white Brahmin string necklace; with a lower garment of silk. The body is slightly thin and dexterous. The legs are in royal ease position, with the right knee raised, and left leg drawn in. Relaxing seated upon a double lotus throne. Two attendants standing beneath the throne.

Glen Cove New York is on the North Shore of Long Island and was the summer resort of the rich and famous. In the early 1900s Property was owned by F.W. Woolworth, J.P Morgan, John Platt and John D. Rockefeller. Many of the estates have been sold and are now operated as resorts. The Mansions of Glen Cove The Webb Institute was used as educational facilities and even the Soviet Union has purchased property for retreats for visiting dignitaries.
The Collections of Mr. John Platts presented and offered up to auctions from Lot-172 through Lot-182, and continued from Lot-184 Through Lot-209.
