J.B. Jones was a pre-civil war political journalist with deep roots in the American South. Jones’s views were pro-slavery and wanted Union readers to appreciate his southern view. Curiously, famed poet Edgar Allan Poe considered Jones one of America’s best Authors’ (Byrne). Jones wrote fiction based primarily on his personal experiences growing up in Missouri - such as Daniel Boone hunting a bear!
‘Wild Western Scenes’ is a work first published in 1851. It portrays slavery and other Southern ideals in a positive light, rather than condoning them. This 1866 edition is complete with double page and single page illustrations. A fine copy!
