Gallatin Announces Madison's Directive Concerning Russian Trade + Value of the Ruble
Albert Gallatin Treasury Circular Signed "Albert Gallatin". One printed page, 8" x 9", [Washington], April 16, 1812, to the "Collector of the Customs for the district of Gloucester" regarding the value of the Russian ruble and further that its value should "be determined by the exchange of St. Petersburg on London. Chipping at the edges.
Please note: One of these, exactly the same, except for the town of the other which was indicated for Gloucester sold at Heritage auctions in 2014 for $1375.
This item comes with a Certificate from John Reznikoff, a premier authenticator for both major 3rd party authentication services, PSA and JSA (James Spence Authentications), as well as numerous auction houses.
