J. Edgar Hoover Two Typed Letters Signed, With JFK Content

Two 1p typed letters on FBI letterhead, both measuring 7.25" x 9.5". Both are boldly signed "J. Edgar Hoover." The first, Washington, D.C., dated November 18, 1960, is addressed to Thomas E. Bishop at the FBI department in San Antonio, Texas. A thank you letter, reading in part: "I am indeed honored by the confidence shown in me by the President-elect in his request that I continue to serve as Director of the FBI. Actually, I feel that this action is a tribute to the loyal and devoted employees of the Bureau who have given so much of their time and effort to the advancement and progress of good law enforcement..."

The second letter, Washington, D.C., dated February 20, 1964, is addressed to Jim Bishop. Written in the months following John F. Kennedy's assassination, Hoover writes a thank you to Bishop for sending him an inscribed copy of "A Day In The Life Of President Kennedy". Both letters are boldly signed. The earlier letter has three small pinholes. Light wear to the corners of both. From the collection of Ron Hoskins assassinologist.
