Description
Unique Deed to a Cemetery Plot Near Lee Harvey Oswald's Gravesite
1p, measuring 7.75" x 12", Tarrant County, Texas, dated June 10, 2008. A Certificate of Internment Rights, No. 402053, for a grave plot at Shannon Rose Hill Cemetery in Fort Worth, Texas. Purchased by Father Ronald E. Hoskins of Dignity Philadelphia Church, the certificate reserves a spot at Fairlawn (Section 17), Lot 300, Space 3. Receipts accompanying the certificate reveal that the priest paid $3,443.00 for the plot. The certificate is accompanied by numerous documents, including maps of the cemetery, pricing for services, and communications between Hoskins and various members of the Shannon Rose Hill Cemetery Funeral Office.
Most notably, the grave of Lee Harvey Oswald may also be found in Section 17. After Oswald's death at the hands of club owner Jack Ruby, he was buried at Shannon Rose Hill Cemetery, the only Dallas area cemetery that would agree to admitting him due to his role in the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. The funeral was so sparsely attended that reporters on the scene ended up acting as pallbearers. From the collection of Ron Hoskins, assassinologist.
The certificate has flattened folds, with very minor wear at corners. Other documents show varying degrees of creasing and minor wear.
This item comes with a Certificate from John Reznikoff, a premier authenticator for both major 3rd party authentication services, PSA and JSA (James Spence Authentications), as well as numerous auction houses.
