Charles Dickens was regarded as the literary colossus of his age. His 1843 novella, A Christmas Carol, remains popular and continues to inspire adaptations in every artistic genre. His third work was ‘Nicholas Nickleby’, a work which follows Nickleby and his young orphan friend Smike and the adventures they get into. The parts of this work were released in short segments weekly in periodicals in London. It first appeared in complete book form in 1839 by Chapman and Hall.
This example is a beautifully bound edition which includes an engraved portrait frontispiece and engravings by Phiz, as well as numerous uncorrected first edition points!
