P.T. Barnum Signed Fantastic Crystal Palace Bond

2pp oversized bifolium, measuring 10.875" x 16.75", New York, dated June 10, 1854. Issued by the Associate for the Exhibition of the Industry of all Nations, No. 580, $100 bond for the Crystal Palace. Signed by Barnum "P.T. Barnum" as President. Countersigned by L.C. Stuart, Treasurer. With a blue paper seal on the left side of the signed page. With flattened folds, as well as toning and soiling at the folds. Light edge chipping. Boldly signed.

The New York Crystal Palace was built after the success of the 1851 London Crystal Palace Exhibition. Opened on July 14, 1853, the building sat on the south side of 42nd Street, between 5th and 6th Avenue. P.T. Barnum was elected as the fair's second president and ran his own stunts and performances during the open season. The fair remained open intermittently until October 5, 1858, when the building was burned down in a fire.

This item comes with a Certificate from John Reznikoff, a premier authenticator for both major 3rd party authentication services, PSA and JSA (James Spence Authentications), as well as numerous auction houses.
